Llyn Brenig / Brenig Reservoir

and

Llyn Alwen / Alwen Reservoir

Water Description

The Vale of Clwyd Angling Club’s takeup of Llyn Brenig’s tickets was so successful last year that the club has added two tickets for the Sunday. This now means that the club has two tickets for Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday and Sunday tickets are ideal for those members who cannot fish during the week due to work commitments. However, it is essential that all the Brenig tickets be booked in advance and this may be done by contacting Paul King by email - PaulLKing@gmail.com

Llyn Brenig Lake is now recognised as one of the best top-of-the-water fisheries in the UK. With its 23km of shoreline, it's one of the best places to go fishing in Conwy. Anglers travel from far and wide to our north Wales location to experience the vast body of water that offers so much to the discerning fly fisher. It’s a highly respected venue for competitive angling and has hosted World, Commonwealth and International matches.

The reservoir offers bank and boat fishing and really tests the angler’s ability as the boat drifts in the breeze. Locations like the Dam Wall, Hafod LomWoods, Nantglyn and the Brenig Arm may call for different techniques, and if there are decent hatches of flies these will add to the excitement.

The lake is stocked with rainbow trout, and the fishing is by fly only. Because the fish are reared on site, in the cold Brenig water, they are fully acclimatised and have a deserved reputation for being fierce fighters.
